Apple Prepares for iPhone’s 20th Anniversary with Bold Redesign Plans

Prime Highlights

Apple is lining up a groundbreaking makeover of the iPhone’s 20th anniversary in 2027 with a foldable phone and a new Pro model.

A new iPhone 17 Pro will also surface in 2025 with sweeping upgrades, including a gigantic rear camera panel.

Key Facts

Apple’s foldable iPhone has been beset by technical and durability problems, pushing its expected release date back.

Industry analyst estimates put the foldable iPhone at about $2,000 to $2,500.

Key Background

Apple is taking a leap towards a major step ahead in its iPhone lineage by 2027, the 20th anniversary of the revolutionizing telephone. Apple has reportedly been working on a foldable iPhone for years. This would be Apple’s first official foray into foldable smartphone land, something that others like Samsung already dabble in. But Apple is waiting patiently, putting its money in quality and fortitude that has left its rollout significantly behind the originally projected target of 2025.

Added to this, Apple is also developing a new iPhone Pro product with solid glassed parts, maybe something even more futurist-looking, seamless-looking. All of this is to remind one of the many decades when Apple was committed to elegant, high-end design supplemented by technological savvy. Its current design step is to have Apple stay cutting-edge at smartphones as much as follow evolving tastes in consumers.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro, which debuts in September of 2025, will introduce smaller but meaningful changes. Among them is a new rear camera system that spans the width of the phone—a design departure from the existing two-tone backs of the latest models. However, the overall look will remain consistent with the existing generation for the most part.

While the hype builds for Apple’s foldable iPhone, Apple still has yet to figure engineering-wise, primarily how to engineer longevity in devices. Apple’s foldable iPhone, as reported by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, should be able to command a premium at launch, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series. The play is good with Apple being a premium phone brand and work in advancing foldable technology to Apple levels.
